Century Carbon Metal Black Bird

BB signifies “BlackBird” – (Danny asked if we could and named after the legendary Lockheed S71 fast, long range strategic aircraft!) - is a well thought out progression of an existing principal - originally favoured by Continental anglers. Longer rods for lighter line fishing to cast big distances “at a stroke”
The BB reduces the need to develop advanced casting styles and can help deliver considerable extra distance without changing from the most common overhead casting styles. It is thus easier to upgrade from rods where the angler has already developed certain skills and just wants get down to the serious business of fishing. We have worked extensively on the design of BB and in the process achieved a World Record cast of 229m using fixed spool reel.

Global warming and commercial over fishing are driving traditional fish stocks away from existing habitats towards deeper and cooler waters. This has influenced our design thinking and we are looking to satisfy enthusiastic shore anglers who wish to pursue their sport under these changing conditions. Species such as pout, sea bass, John Dory and red mullet are increasingly populating more northerly latitudes and this presents new opportunities for dedicated designs like the Carbon Metal BB. We have received positive feedback on BB’s power to weight ratio and this benefit inevitably assists the roving angler.

The BB is highly effective using fixed spool or multiplier reels. We recommend 6lb - 10lb lines on fixed spool and 10 - 20lb lines on multiplier. (use fingerstalls on fixed spool)

Century Carbon Metal Express.

The CM Express is an alternative development of the CM that has been refined at UKSF and SIPS World Championships, taking a new fixed spool reel - World Record in the process. (100gram - 0.28mm line - distance 225m)

Barney Wright a leading UKSF caster and sea angler has a recorded cast of 239 metres on 125 gram weight at UKSF using Multiplier reel and has used the rod extensively for his fishing. One of the primary aspects he likes is the parabolic C curve the rod proscribes when fully compressed rather than the J curve of faster actions. This means that it is less critical on timing and release of the cast. Bite detection is superb and the rod tip is stable in stormy conditions.

The CME reduces tiredness and can be repetitively cast without strain and has received exemplary reviews by knowledgeable anglers and casters.

Century Carbon Metal SRE (Sea River Estuary)

Century has spent over a year working with Danny Moeskops - World Casting Champion - leading Continental sea angler - designing Carbon Metal SRE. Available in two lengths 5.00m and 4.60m - it is a well thought out improvement of an existing principal - originally favoured by Continental anglers.

Century Carbon Metals have established an outstanding track record with sea anglers and although these new SRE's are a departure from OTG and Pendulum style casting rods - the distances available to overhead casters is substantial. Danny Moeskops has introduced several innovative ultra high modulus carbon fibre "accelerators" into the design to give high tip speed without the need to pre compress the tip before releasing energy stored in the butt. The bite detection from little rattles by small flatfish and slack liner bites are more than obvious.
The 3 section SRE is for lighter fishing conditions and clearly does not have the huge hauling capability of the big Kompressors. This is reflected in the recommended line sizes of 6lb to 8lb
Variable reel positions on the butt are available using the Century winch fitting with SS Coaster. Light and easy to use at 5.00m and also available at 4.60m for less powerful casters. SRE 4.60m has staggered butt and same middle and tip as 5.00m.

Century Carbon Metal Crest

The Century Carbon Metal Express has become one of the most desirable sea rods and undoubtedly has gained many friends since it was released in early 2004. In 2006 it was voted by the readers of Total Sea Fising - the best sea rod.

Century has spent over a year working with Danny Moeskops - the world distance casting champion and a passionate angler - designing the Carbon Metal Crest (CMC) . Century Tip Tornado Ultra Lite

The Ultra Lite has deceptive power despite its fine dimensions. There are many times when a standard beachcaster outguns the conditions. Inside calm estuaries, harbours and sea lochs there is a definite need for light gear which brings finesse to the situation. Changes within sea angling including variation in population numbers of many species means more fishing is done from the shore in summer style conditions. Century Tip Tornado Sport.

The Sport has reached “state of the art” status in the light of hard won experience and decades of fishing. The butt slices through the air and in storm conditions the rod is stable and very secure. The Century Kompressor SS and S are two highly technical and evolutionary rods.

Technical because they incorporate advanced composite engineering benefits only available at Century. The Kompressor SS and S models are two piece equal sectioned and 13’10” long. The Gearbox Design in the butt section caters for a wide range of casting ratios. The Kompressors are Autoclaved for action retention. The WR300 is so named after achieving a new UKSF and World Record record cast at Huntingdon, England in May 2002 on 150gm (5.25 ozs) weight. The exact distance was 301.43 yards. The fundamental design is also the proud holder of 125gm (4oz) and 175gm (6.25 oz) records at 287.35 yards and 297.89 yards respectively. The first rod ever to cast over 300 yards at UKSF Grand Prix. The overall weight of Ccc is 750 grams (26 ¾ ozs) including the special Century reel seat and stainless coaster. It feels very light in the hand and balances well.

We have applied Autoclave Technology for long term durability and action retention. The Ccc is built using this same advanced system that has helped create world casting records.

This design is very much focused at match anglers who need distance and occasionally need to put out 175 gram lead plus bait. The Ccc's are very capable on mixed ground - pebble beaches with occasional weed beds and boulders. Great for venues such as Holderness, Isle of Man and beaches of southern Ireland. In fact anywhere where conditions are not too severe. Typically for use with lines of 0.28 to 0.35mm. Much of the development phase for the Ccc's was completed by Danny at Pwllheli beach on Llyn Peninsular -Wales. These rods are quite capable of bringing in treble shots of smuts (dogfish). They have also proven very effective when encountering smooth hound and fast running tope.

The Ccc has the familiar Century cabon metallic look on the butt section with a very slight Artic blue tint built into the weave.

The Ccc comes with the Century adjustable reel seat and reducer for low reel position.

The highly adaptable Century reel seat locates the reel in any position on the butt. The EVA caps slide with the fitting to prvent the ingress of sand and debris.

The joint is a reverse fit and precision ground for years of use. A hand gripof Japanese shrink rubber gives additional purchase when inserting and disassembling the rod.
