The <B>Penn 525 Mag</B> has a powerful 6 to 1 retrieve, huge main and pinion gears, drags that really worked and the grunt to wind in smoothly, even with a fish kicking and screaming on the other end. Both pinion gear and spindle are supported by bearings so when the pressure is on the drive train remains in perfect alignment. Plus of course the extra capacity. All in all just about what everybody was waiting for.
There was pretty much an even split on those who thought it a little fast and the other camp who said it was just right. But to show we listened we brought out the <B>SuperMag</B> with two extra magnets to give the ‘too fast’ vote increased braking.
The original four magnet <b>525</b> has been re-launched, but with more than a little extra. Included in the box are two extra magnets with easy to follow installation instructions telling you exactly where and how to position them on the mag carrier. So, should you feel need for some additional spool braking it is there waiting for you. In addition, we have also included a pair of ABEC 5 spool bearings. Some will call it a DIY SuperMag, we call it the <B>525Mag Xtra</B> and now the choice is yours.
Featuring superb drag utilising Penn’s powerful HT-100TM multi disc drag system for total control over anything pulling the other way. Penn’s awesome Verso-drag system allows you to adjust the drags washers to provide a feather light touch right up to a full on drag to tame whatever roams the oceans.
The system is protected for continuous optimum performance by a special collar to seal out any contaminates. A roller bearing provides one way anti-reverse that completely eliminates handle kick back. All this power is under the control of a two position power handle with ergonomic soft grip to take full advantage of the high speed gearing.

<H4>Penn 525 SuperMag Xtra</H4>
The <B>Penn 525 SuperMag Xtra</B> is a little more radical than the <b>SuperMag</B>. This has a completely new mag set up with even more variable braking. Based on experience by Neil in the US facility experimenting with numerous magnet configurations while working with their engineers.
The big difference in this reel is the mag control system. Designed and manufactured in the UK, the new side plate sports a ratcheted wheel that controls a new magnet carrier. This gives an increased range of travel, resulting in a much more refined and ‘tuneable’ braking system. We’ve even replaced the original bearings with ABEC 5 Ceramic hybrid bearings for top-level performance. The sheer cranking power housed in this tiny reel is
unbelievable, and it’s this power, coupled with the supreme casting capability of the <EM>Super Mag Xtra</EM> that has won the hearts of just about every serious beach angler in Europe. You can crank three dogfish or a double figure cod through some serious kelp with this little powerhouse, no problem. And if you need to cast a bait over the 200-yard mark to reach fish on shallow ground, then you only have to ask this reel and it will oblige.
