The new <B>Shimano Calcutta</B> B series, like its predecessor is constructed from a cold forged aluminium frame, side plates and spool, which create a strong frame with tighter tolerances. The reels also feature the Variable Brake System (VBS) that uses centrifugal brake weights to aid cast control. All reels feature Shimano's A-RB stainless steel ball bearings, Super Stopper to eliminate back play and enable solid hooksets, and a Dartanium drag. These larger versions of the reel also have the benefit of a clicker that increases the tension on freespool and activates a 'fish-on' clicking alarm as well as having 3-position Power Grips that allow for three different hand positions for various fishing techniques. The CT400BSV is designed without a top crossbar or level wind to provide better access to the spool and improved casting ability.
